US Reveals X-BAT Combat Drone with F-16 Engine

At the Sea-Air-Space Expo near Washington, D.C., Shield AI and GE Aerospace introduced the X-BAT, an autonomous stealth drone equipped with the F110 engine, commonly used in F-16 and F-15 aircraft. This drone is notable for its vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) capability, extended combat range of 1,000 nautical miles, and compatibility with F-35 munitions, all while being significantly more cost-effective. The redesign incorporates a new arrowhead shape optimizing high-speed flight, and the drone functions as a tail-sitter, negating the need for conventional airstrips.
