Renault Valladolid Invests €45M in Advanced Casting Tech

Renault's Valladolid factory, renowned for its history in combustion engines, is now pioneering the Tilting Gravity Die Casting (TGDC) technique, thanks to a €45 million investment from Horse Powertrain. This joint venture, comprising Renault, Geely, and Aramco, marks Valladolid as the first factory in Spain to adopt this innovative casting method, which aims to enhance the production of cylinder heads for hybrid vehicles by 20%, from 300,000 to 360,000 units annually. This new line covers 3,500 square meters and will create 150 permanent jobs, reinforcing the factory's strategic importance in Europe’s automotive landscape.
The adoption of the TGDC method not only demonstrates a shift towards higher precision manufacturing but also positions Valladolid at the forefront of EU automotive technology, enhancing sustainability while addressing the substantial number of non-pluggable vehicles still in circulation. Given that 96% of vehicles in Europe run on internal combustion, this investment confirms Valladolid's role as a key player in the hybrid engine segment, underpinning a critical transition phase in the automotive industry while ensuring a significant degree of local technological autonomy.
