Karatzis Group Invests €240M in Greek Data Centers

The Karatzis Group, a Greek multinational, is investing €240 million ($278 million) to establish a data center complex in Boeotia, approximately 100 km northwest of Athens. This project will consist of seven data centers designed to collectively provide a generation capacity of 430 megawatts. Construction is set to unfold over three stages within an 18-month timeline, incorporating essential infrastructure and technology systems to meet the anticipated demand for data services in the Mediterranean region.

This significant investment reflects the growing focus on data sovereignty in the EU, as the region seeks improved connectivity and infrastructure resilience. By expanding its capabilities with these data centers, Greece is positioning itself as a strategic hub for data processing in Southern Europe. This development not only enhances local computational resources but also reduces potential dependency on foreign technology, reinforcing national sovereignty in data management and security.
