EU Expands Cybersecurity Support to Moldova

The EU Cyber Solidarity Act establishes that associated non-EU countries can access support from the EU Cybersecurity Reserve, aimed at enhancing cybersecurity resilience in partner nations. Currently, the Republic of Moldova is the only non-EU country benefiting from this initiative, marking a significant step since its deployment to Moldova in September 2025.

This policy shift signals a strategic move towards reinforcing cyber resilience in Eastern Europe, particularly within countries associated with various EU programs. By allowing Moldova to receive direct support, the EU not only strengthens its cybersecurity landscape but also reduces its potential dependency on external cyber defense mechanisms, fostering greater autonomy in regional cyber governance.
