Apto Invests $2.2B in Madrid Data Center Campus

Apto, a developer backed by PIMCO, has announced plans to invest €2 billion ($2.2 billion) in building a substantial data center campus located in Fuenlabrada, Madrid. The facility, covering 195,000 square meters (2.1 million square feet), will primarily serve hyperscale customers with a total projected capacity of 240MW across five buildings. Construction is set to commence shortly, following the completion of preliminary site enabling works, including a crucial 40MW on-site substation.

This investment marks a significant commitment to enhancing Madrid's role as a key digital hub in Europe, particularly in terms of supporting cloud services and artificial intelligence initiatives. By transforming a former industrial site into a cutting-edge data center, Apto aims to position itself as a leader in sustainable infrastructure development, capitalizing on the growing demand for digital services in the region. This project not only addresses the immediate data demands but also aligns with broader economic growth objectives in the Community of Madrid, facilitating the attraction of high-value companies to the area.
