Kitebrook Plans 500MW AI-Enabled Data Centers in Norway

Kitebrook Infra, supported by Carlyle Group co-founder William Conway, is launching a project aiming to develop over 500MW of data center capacity in Norway. The firm, building on the experience from its predecessor DigiPlex, seeks to capitalize on the rising global demand for AI-enabled data centers. Its flagship site in Matre will initially offer 20MW of capacity from Q2 2027, with additional projects planned in Børdalen and Leirdøla scheduled for energization by 2029.

The strategic investment by Kitebrook reflects a significant shift towards enhancing AI infrastructure in Norway, leveraging the country’s abundant renewable energy resources. By employing liquid cooling and a generator-free Green Back Up Solution, Kitebrook aims to provide sustainable power for its facilities while ensuring reliable operation. This development is poised to bolster national autonomy in the AI sector by reducing dependence on foreign data center infrastructures and enhancing local energy capabilities.
