PARIS — A new report by the Jean-Jaurès Foundation highlights that much of parliamentary work could be automated through AI technologies. The report notes that 55% of tasks conducted by parliamentary teams are eligible for automation, driven by the processing of public data and documentation. Specific areas identified for automation include media monitoring, accounting management, and report drafting, while human oversight is still deemed necessary for interpersonal and strategic tasks.

The report urges for regulations governing AI use in the parliamentary context, fearing that unchecked adoption may undermine data sovereignty and the reliability of parliamentary outputs. A working group has been formed to explore market solutions tailored for parliamentary staff, underscoring the need for structured guidelines to bolster efficiency without compromising operational integrity.
