Nokia Raises AI Outlook Amid Strong Q1 Earnings

Nokia reported a positive outlook for its AI and Cloud sectors, driven by significant demand increases, as reflected in its Q1 earnings where revenue reached €4.5 billion. The company now anticipates an addressable AI and Cloud market growth of 27% CAGR from 2025 to 2028, considerably up from its previous estimate of 16%. CEO Justin Hotard noted that AI's contribution led to a net profit of €87 million, a marked recovery from a €60 million loss the previous year, with AI and Cloud customer sales surging by 49%.
Importantly, Nokia is seeing enhanced positioning in the AI landscape which may lead to decreased reliance on foreign technology. With the upcoming AI-RAN trials and a solid revenue intake from present customers, Nokia is positioning itself as a key player in the rapidly evolving AI and Cloud infrastructure market. This shift not only signals potential growth but also aligns with national interests in fostering domestic AI capabilities, enhancing sovereignty in telecommunications technology.
