Google Partners with Marvell to Design New AI Chips

Google is collaborating with Marvell Technology to develop two customized AI chips for its data centers, with plans to produce close to two million memory processing units. One chip is a memory processing unit aimed at optimizing tasks alongside Google’s in-house Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), while the other is a specialized TPU designed for inference applications. This strategic partnership is a notable shift as it aims to decrease dependency on Broadcom, who has been charging high fees for TPU production.
