Families Sue OpenAI for Role in School Shooting

Families of victims from a tragic school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, have filed a federal lawsuit against OpenAI in the United States, claiming the company did not alert authorities about concerning interactions between the shooter and its ChatGPT platform. The legal action is among the first of its kind alleging that the AI chatbot contributed to the circumstances surrounding the February shooting, which resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries.
