Verkor.io Develops AI that Designs CPU in 12 Hours

Verkor.io has announced a significant milestone in AI-driven chip design, revealing that its AI system, Design Conductor, autonomously developed a complete RISC-V CPU core from a simple 219-word specifications document in just 12 hours. This achievement stands in stark contrast to the typical timelines of 18 to 36 months required for traditional commercial chip designs, greatly enhancing production efficiency. The resulting CPU, named VerCore, is characterized as a five-stage pipelined, in-order, single-issue design that achieved a clock speed of 1.48 GHz on the ASAP7 7nm process design kit.
