Lebanon Launches National Data Center Transformation Project

Lebanon's government plans to transform a warehouse in Dekwaneh into a National Data Center. This initiative, discussed by Telecommunications Minister Charles Hajj and Touch CEO Karim Salim Salam, involves relocating existing Karantina and Sawwar data centers into one facility, promoting operational efficiency. The project aligns with the Ministry of Telecommunications' strategy to leverage state-owned properties and minimize the need for leasing facilities, thus boosting local assets. Recent benchmarking by the American University of Beirut aids in shaping this national endeavor by evaluating optimal data center models and projected costs.
