Data Ownership Challenges Hinder Successful AI Projects

Recent studies reveal that many AI projects falter not due to poor data, but from unaddressed questions regarding data ownership and governance. At a recent meeting, concerns arose over who decides how data is utilized, illustrating a deeper readiness issue within organizations. A survey involving 150 C-level executives highlighted that nearly half identify lack of alignment among IT, business, and compliance teams as the main hurdle, rather than data quality or availability alone.

As organizations push for AI integration, they must focus on establishing clear data governance policies to avoid costly missteps.
