Segro Develops 50MW Data Center in Slough UK

UK real estate firm Segro has signed a pre-lease agreement to construct a 50MW data center on the Slough Trading Estate. This three-story facility will encompass 30,000 square meters and is backed by existing customer requirements, with all necessary planning permissions obtained. Additionally, Segro has received planning approval for a 70MW fully fitted data center in partnership with Pure Data Centres, indicating significant progress in their strategic goals to leverage their data center opportunities across the region.

These developments reflect a growing trend in the UK to strengthen national compute capabilities amid increasing demand from hyperscalers. By expanding its data center operations and targeting the hyperscaler market directly, Segro is positioning itself to meet future demands for high-capacity infrastructure, thus enhancing domestic data sovereignty and reducing reliance on foreign technology.
