Germany Pushes for AI Sovereignty through Government Purchas

Germany's AI and Competition Commission has outlined 20 recommendations to enhance the nation's use of artificial intelligence, emphasizing a strong need for public institutions to act as anchor clients for European AI infrastructure. Digital Minister Karsten Wildberger highlighted the importance of state involvement in driving AI sovereignty, amid ongoing legal challenges linked to public procurement processes, such as the secure administrative cloud tender involving a consortium including Google.
