Meta Launches Muse Spark to Compete with GPT Models

Meta has unveiled Muse Spark, the inaugural AI model developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL). This division was established in the summer of 2025, following challenges with the Llama 4 model, and is led by Alexandr Wang, former CEO of Scale AI. Notably, Muse Spark marks a significant departure from Meta's previous open-source approach, shifting towards a closed model designed to rival dominant offerings such as GPT and Claude.

This strategic move reflects a growing trend among AI firms to prioritize proprietary technologies over open-source frameworks.
