Scoot Expands Flight Services to Indonesia

Scoot, a low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, has announced new flight services to Belitung and Pontianak in Indonesia starting in May 2026. This expansion will increase Scoot's operational destinations to 85 across 18 countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Europe regions. The new flights to Belitung will operate twice weekly, with one-way fares starting at S$99. This decision reflects an effort to enhance connectivity within Southeast Asia, catering to the growing travel demand in the region.
The strategic implication of this expansion highlights the increasing competition among low-cost carriers in Asia. By adding new destinations and increasing frequencies, Scoot aims to solidify its position in the market and capture a larger share of the travel segment. This initiative not only provides more travel options but also enhances the interconnectedness of Southeast Asian markets, potentially boosting tourism and economic growth in the region.
