Cortical Labs Partners for Bio-Driven AI Data Centers

Cortical Labs, an Australian biotech startup, has partnered with DayOne to establish two data centers in Australia and Singapore utilizing its experimental biological computer, the CL1. The CL1 consists of lab-grown human neurons on a silicon chip and is designed to consume far less energy than traditional AI computing solutions. Pricing is set at approximately $35,000 per unit, with an initial phase involving 20 CL1 units at Singapore's National University.
This collaborative initiative stands to change the computational landscape by addressing the significant energy demands of conventional AI infrastructure. The CL1’s energy efficiency could reduce dependency on traditional computing resources and provides a pathway for more sustainable operations in AI development. As global concern grows over energy consumption in tech, this partnership represents a move towards bio-based alternatives, enhancing national AI strategies and reducing reliance on foreign technology.
