ASML Increases EUV Machine Production to Meet AI Demand

ASML, the sole manufacturer of EUV lithography machines, is set to build at least 60 machines in 2026, representing a 36% increase from 2025. This ramp-up is in response to a projected $600 billion investment in AI from major US tech firms such as Microsoft and Amazon, which is enhancing demand for advanced AI chips. The company's revenue is expected to rise to $42-$47 billion due to this surge in production and demand for its essential machines for manufacturing these chips.
Additionally, ASML is investing $2.2 billion to expand its facilities and is examining strategic moves into advanced packaging technologies crucial for AI processor integration. Notably, ASML's investment in the French AI startup Mistral AI, becoming its largest shareholder, further highlights its commitment to bolstering Europe’s AI capabilities, thereby reducing reliance on US and Chinese AI models. This strategic pivot indicates a significant shift toward enhancing European autonomy in AI infrastructure.
