TikTok Invests €1B in Finnish Data Sovereignty Initiative

TikTok has announced a €1 billion investment for the construction of a second data center in Finland. This new facility, to be located in Lahti, follows the establishment of an initial data center in Kouvola, which is set to become operational by the end of this year. This initiative is part of TikTok's Project Clover, aimed at ensuring data sovereignty in Europe amidst growing concerns regarding user privacy and compliance with the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA). The new data center is expected to start with a capacity of 50 megawatts, expandable to a total capacity of 128 megawatts.
