Telefónica Launches Edge Computing for Real-Time AI

Telefónica has launched its edge computing services for B2B clients in five Spanish cities—Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla, Bilbao, and A Coruña. This initiative is part of a broader deployment plan that will establish 17 edge nodes to facilitate local data processing, minimizing the time taken for data to travel to centralized data centers. By enabling companies and administrations to process and store data closer to where it is generated, Telefónica aims to reduce latency and enhance real-time response capabilities, thereby addressing the growing demands of AI computation.

The strategic significance of Telefónica's initiative lies in its potential to improve national AI infrastructure and sovereignty.
