YMTC Doubles NAND-Flash Production Capacity to Compete Glob

Yangtze Memory Technologies Co. (YMTC), a leading Chinese NAND flash manufacturer, is set to more than double its production capacity in the coming years. Currently operating in Wuhan, the company aims to ramp up from 160,000-200,000 silicon wafers per month to a projected 50,000 wafers per month by 2027. This expansion aligns YMTC with global leaders like Samsung and Kioxia, elevating it to the third-largest NAND flash producer on the market.
With plans for two additional semiconductor plants capable of generating an annual output of up to 5.4 million wafers, YMTC is positioned to significantly enhance its competitive edge in the semiconductor market. This scaling not only reflects YMTC’s growth ambition but also underscores a strategic move by China towards escalating its semiconductor independence, reducing reliance on foreign technology and fostering greater data sovereignty in key technological infrastructures.
