Hyundai Pledges $26B Investment in US by 2028

Hyundai Motor Group plans to invest $26 billion in the United States by 2028, reaffirming its commitment to the US market amid geopolitical uncertainties. This investment will build on the approximately $20.5 billion already invested in the US over the past four decades. Executive Chair Chung Euisun aims to enhance the company's operations through advanced manufacturing, job creation, and integration of cutting-edge robotics and artificial intelligence, which he identifies as pivotal to the company’s future strategy.
This significant investment underscores a strategic shift towards localized agility while enhancing national AI capabilities. Hyundai's focus on robotics, including the deployment of 20,000 Boston Dynamics’ Atlas humanoid robots by 2030, is set to enhance operational efficiency and innovation. Furthermore, addressing energy security through hydrogen technology also positions Hyundai to capitalize on shifts in energy demand tied to AI infrastructure growth, thus increasing the company’s autonomy in energy sourcing and technology utilization.
