LS Electric Secures $216.5M Power Supply for AI Data Center

LS Electric, a South Korean electrical equipment manufacturer, has been awarded a contract valued at 319 billion won (approximately $216.5 million) to supply power distribution systems for Bloom Energy’s new data center project in New Mexico. This facility, anticipated to be part of the larger Project Jupiter being developed by Oracle and BorderPlex Digital Assets, is set to lead advancements in energy efficiency and AI infrastructure. Bloom Energy will deploy up to 2.45GW of its solid oxide fuel cell technology as the primary power source for the data center, marking a significant step for efficient power usage in data-intensive applications.
The implications of this deal are substantial for the regional and national AI landscape. With Oracle confirmed as the major tenant and the project expected to represent up to $165 billion in investment across 1,400 acres, it enhances local AI capabilities while promoting sustainable energy practices. This aligns with the growing focus on energy efficiency in AI infrastructure, reducing dependency on conventional power sources and encouraging innovative technologies. As Bloom Energy expands its partnerships, the potential for similar transactions could lead to a significant uptick in regional data infrastructure, increasing the U.S. autonomy in AI computing capabilities.
