ENISA Administers EU Cybersecurity Reserve Authority
ENISA has been appointed to implement the EU Cybersecurity Reserve under a recent agreement signed in August 2025. This designation makes ENISA the contracting authority responsible for procuring services and responding to requests for support from member states' cyber crisis management bodies and CSIRTs, as well as from CERT-EU on behalf of EU institutions.
The implications of this decision enhance the EU's ability to manage cybersecurity crises effectively, reflecting a strategic shift towards consolidated cybersecurity governance. By empowering ENISA with this responsibility, the EU bolsters its national cybersecurity framework, thereby increasing its autonomy in crisis response and reducing reliance on foreign entities in cybersecurity matters.
