India's Data Strategy Bolstered by Iran Conflict

Recent attacks by Iran on data centers have destabilized cloud services in the region, particularly affecting Amazon's AWS facilities in the UAE and Bahrain. These incidents have prompted companies to evaluate alternative data hosting locations, with India emerging as a viable option due to its relative security and favorable conditions for tech manufacturing. India's ongoing ambition to become the next major tech manufacturing hub is further strengthened as it positions itself as a stable environment without the threat of drone attacks on critical infrastructure.

In pursuit of this goal, India is planning to construct a massive data center with a capacity of 3GW, significantly larger than most current facilities. This ambitious plan, projected to cost between $20 billion and $30 billion, seeks to attract substantial foreign investment while providing a more reliable base for companies affected by geopolitical tensions. As India's market matures and the labor force becomes progressively skilled and cost-effective, it is increasingly appealing to tech giants, thereby advancing its sovereignty in the global technology landscape.
