Spanish firm Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) has announced plans to establish a €2.8 billion data center focused on artificial intelligence in Mérida, Extremadura. The initiative, known as the Lusitanus project, will invest approximately €2.1 billion in digital infrastructure and €700 million in renewable energy generation, aiming for over 80% renewable self-power capability. FRV has already secured contracts for 240,000 sqm land to facilitate the development.
